First

Settling in has been quite a process, but we are at long last stable enough in our home, our jobs and school to pursue more recreational activities -- i.e. gardening, beer brewing, weekend vacationing and, yes, blog writing. Over the last year, Sarah and I have been in the process of changing jobs and looking for grad schools. All of that effort has landed us in Durham, North Carolina where Sarah is a student at Duke's Nicholas School working toward a Master's of Environmental Management. I'm working as a researcher for the Center for Teaching Quality, which is a little non-profit with big ideas (just like so many others:)). We fill an important niche in the education policy world, and I'm proud of the work we do. :)

Wantabe Farmers is intended to be a blog for family and friends. We want to be able to share pictures and stories with all of you. So, if you're ever wondering what's going on with us, just check out our latest posts and pictures. If you find me too boring, don't worry, Sarah will be contributing lots of pictures and stories as well (nobody wears the pants on this blog ;)). The picture that greeted you at the top of our page is part of our fall garden on our back patio. Hopefully there will soon be pictures of garden harvesting, beer brewing and various other things we do up here in North Carolina. We hope you enjoy following us and our process of cultivating home.

  1. So nice to see your photo and to read about your new home in Durham - thank you for keeping us "on your list!" I am teaching elementary music again after several years in the computer lab, and would welcome a chance to interact with you regarding your research work. Thank you for keeping in touch, cousin!
